Apr 11, 2018 · Saw Ben Howard yesterday, lovely concert but pretty disappointed he didn't play anything of Noonday Dream. Is it because of the lukewarm reception people had back then when he played it live or does it require a very specific setting of instruments? This made me listen to Noonday Dream again on the way home, and man, Ben was on something else.
Although January 2019's ethereal "Heave Ho" bridged the gap between Noonday Dream and his next full-length record, it was two full years before he issued further material. On a summer 2019 drive through Portugal, Howard took in the expansive, loop-filled sounds of Aaron Dessner's PEOPLE collective, and vowed to work with the founding member of the National.
