Offspring director van den Houten returns this time but as a co-producer. Director credit goes to Lucky McKee who also co-wrote the screenplay with Ketchum. McKee does a masterful job of creating and building tension as the film builds toward a blood-soaked climax that must be seen to be believed.

A subplot involving Claire's despicable husband Steven gives an opportunity to cleverly compare predatory civilized folk to the appetite-driven primitives.

Through my years of watching countless movies and reading countless books, I have come to the conclusion that films based on books are never better than the book itself.
Film 141: Offspring Rank: 98 of 141. Interesting modern cannibal flick with backwoods horror and home invasion vibes.,,Offspring’’ is disturbing, gory, brutal, dark and nasty. Fun! I know that there are two more films connected to this one. I’ll check them out some day soon.
