Avalokiteshvara (or Avalokiteśvara) is a Bodhisattva who represents compassion, and his mantra also symbolizes that quality. Avalokiteshvara means “The Lord Who Looks Down (in compassion)”. There are various forms of Avalokiteśvara ( Chenrezig in Tibetan). The four-armed form is shown here.
