The Bank of Greece (Greek: Τράπεζα της Ελλάδος Trapeza tis Ellados, abbr. ΤτΕ) is the Greek member of the Eurosystem and has been the monetary authority for Greece from 1927 to 2000, issuing the drachma.
The Bank of Greece is the central bank of the country. It is an independent authority exercising a public function: it pursues price stability, i.e. control over inflation (the rate of increase in prices) and the stability and smooth operation of the financial system (banks, insurance companies, etc.).
The Bank of Greece publishes on a monthly (or quarterly) basis data on bank deposits and credit, as well as on the key monetary aggregates.
