Binah (meaning "understanding"; Hebrew: בִּינָה Bīnā) is the third sephira on the kabbalistic Tree of Life. It sits on the level below Keter (in the formulations that include that sephirah ), across from Chokhmah and directly above Gevurah .
Binah is assigned the number three, its meaning implying Understanding. We connect with the mundane chakra of Saturn, one of the Old Gods influencing study, knowledge, the home, honour, title and position. However, Binah also links to the Greek God Kronos, master of Time.

The word binah comes from the Hebrew word for "between" (beyn), and implies the ability to distinguish the real from the unreal, the true from the false.
