Shame the price was losing the Oxford opt-out (and a great many journalists and other staff), resulting in far less news of relevance for everyone in the newly combined region. Wasn't really a price worth paying.

Jan 11, 2010 · Central - 466,000. BBC Midlands - 607,000. West + ITV Wales - 246,000. Points West + BBC Wales - 375,000. Lookaround - 62,000. BBC Cumbria - 50,000. While the BBC programme gets more viewers in most regions, a lot of this is due to being on later. The ITV regional programmes all beat the BBC Six O'Clock News.
Mar 27, 2023 · Sky News departures. Joe Pike replaced Lewis Goodall on sky news who ironically left to join BBC NewsNight too. Seems a well worn track. Pike came to Sky news from itv news where he was a political correspondent for the northern regions. Left the BBC to host The News Agents podcast with Emily Maitlis and Jon Sopel.

Sky and Freesat viewers thanks to postcode selection can get the 'right' BBC region on 101, so in Brighton get BBC South East Today instead of South Today.
