Carla Anderson Hills is an American lawyer and public official who served in both domestic and international capacities in the administrations of two U.S. presidents. Hills attended Stanford (California) University (B.A., 1955) and Yale Law School (LL.D., 1958).
On March 10, 1975, President Gerald R. Ford appointed Carla Hills as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), making her the third woman in the nation's history to hold a cabinet rank. She later served in the administration of George H. W. Bush, as the U.S. Trade Representative.
Currently, Hills is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Hills & Company, International Consultants. The firm provides advice to U.S. businesses on investment, trade, and risk assessment issues abroad.
