ELECTRONIC. Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr's supergroup, ELECTRONIC, released their self-titled debut album in May 1991. Sounding a little more like New Order than The Smiths, the album featured three singles including Get the Message, Feel Every Beat and Getting Away with It featuring Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys.
"Electronic" began as a Bernard Sumner (Joy Division, New Order) solo project, but became a duo in 1989 with Johnny Marr aiming to follow a more "electronic" style of music, blending synthesizers with guitars and rock with contemporary dance music. First signed to Factory, later to Parlophone.
