It really should have been filmed in color. And DL fave Deborah Kerr! I would have liked to have seen Bette Davis in the original Broadway production.

Speaking of Grayson Hall, I'm watching the episodes where she's playing gypsy Magda Rakosi, hamming and camping it up with glee. Judith Collins(the 1897 equivalent of Eliz Stoddard) seems really dykey to me, while her brother Carl is fairly obviously gay.

Eventually one of her sisters married a man who was a professional photographer and moved to NYC. He took some glamour shots of Ava on one of her visits and put the photos out for display in his photo studio.

Jun 3, 2017 · Grayson Hall and Joel Crothers both passed away in 1985. Grayson died from lung cancer (a heavy smoker) at age 62, and Joel died of complications from AIDS at age 44. Rest In Peace Dr. Julia Hoffman and Joe Haskell. And it's hard to believe that they've been gone for 32 years now. But live on forever on the eerie soap opera.....

The wild plots, Grayson Hall, the very many gay actors, the flubs, the microphones hanging over their heads ("Mike Shadows"). Along the way, I followed a great website called Dark Shadows Every Day by a creative genius named Danny Horn.
