The band's cover of Michael Jackson 's "Smooth Criminal" topped the Billboard Alternative songs charts in 2001, [1] and was featured in the film American Pie 2 .
In May 2001, the American rock band Alien Ant Farm released a cover of "Smooth Criminal" as the second single from their second studio album, Anthology (2001). According to the singer, Dryden Mitchell, the band would play a few riffs of the song while warming up before gigs and audience members would request the entire song.
