Hilary Knight (born November 1, 1926) is an American writer and artist. He is the illustrator of more than 50 books and the author of nine books. He is best known as the illustrator and co-creator of Kay Thompson 's Eloise (1955) and others in the Eloise series.

Hilary Knight, Author and Illustrator. Hilary Knight, son of artist-writers Clayton Knight and Katharine Sturges, was born in Hempstead, Long Island and grew up in the town of Roslyn. When he was six the family moved to Manhattan where he has lived ever since.
Knight is currently writing an illustrated memoir titled Hilary Knight: Drawn From Life, in addition to his first graphic novel, Olive & Oliver, a collaboration with his nieces, Kitty and Lily Knight.

The iconic Eloise books are probably what Hilary Knight is best known for illustrating. Four were written by Kay Thompson: Eloise, Eloise in Paris, Eloise at Christmastime and Eloise in Moscow. Then there are Eloise Takes a Bawth, written by Mr. Knight with Mart Crowley, and The 365 Days of Eloise, illustrated and written by Mr. Knight.
