My name is Leah Galant. I’m currently a Fulbright Scholar based between Berlin and New York specializing in documentary directing with additional experience as a cinematographer and editor. I want my work to widen perspectives through unexpected narratives.
Leah Galant is a 2015 Ithaca College graduate who currently lives in New York specializing in documentary producing and directing. Leah was a 2017 Sundance Ignite Fellow which offers an intensive year long mentorship program for emerging filmmakers.
Leah Galant is a Jewish filmmaker and Fulbright Scholar based in New York whose storytelling focuses on unexpected narratives that challenge perceptions. In 2021 she was recognized as one of DOC NYC’s 40 under 40.

Leah is the director and director of photographer on her feature debut, ON THE DIVIDE which will world premiere at the 2021 Tribeca Film Festival in Documentary Competition. She has held fellowships with Sundance Institute Tribeca Film Institute, and Film Independent and Jacob Burns Film Center.
Leah Galant studied documentary film at Ithaca College, where she was named one of Variety’s “110 Students to Watch in Film and Media” for her work on The Provider (SXSW 2016) and Beyond the Wall. In On The Divide, Leah serves as the co-director, producer and the director of photography.
