Career. Reddy joined Indian National Congress in 1978 and won the 1978 elections from Pulivendula. He became minister for rural development from 1980 and later shifted to the Excise Ministry in 1982 and Education in 1982–83. He won the 1983 and 1985 elections from the same constituency.
