Michael Braham was born and raised in Hartford. He moved to New Haven upon being released from a Connecticut prison after serving 25 years. While in prison, he earned a reputation as a jailhouse lawyer. He did so by successfully prosecuting several actions against prison officials and also by helping other prisoners do the same.
