Jay Blackton (March 25, 1909 – January 8, 1994) was an American composer and conductor. In 1956 he won an Academy Award in the category Best Scoring of a Musical Picture for the film Oklahoma! and was also nominated for Guys and Dolls. [2]
Jay Blackton. Composer, conductor, pianist and arranger who gave his first piano concerto at the Brooklyn Academy of Music at age 12. He conducted the New York Opera Comique, the Federal Grand Opera Project and the Federal Gilbert and Sullivan Project, the St. Louis Municipal Opera, and the Delaware Philharmonic.
