Jun 4, 2024 · Nick Barton, having joined ISTA in 2008, is the first professor of the Institute. His research group on Evolutionary Genetics develops mathematical models to probe fundamental issues in evolution. This way they tackle questions on how new species form, what limits adaptation, and what shapes the genetic system.
