Igor Zaytsev (Russian: Игорь Григорьевич Зайцев; born June 16, 1984) is a Russian film director, screenwriter and actor. Biography. Igor was born on March 14, 1961, in the town of Krasny Luch. He studied at the Rostov College of Arts as a specialty theater actor and at the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute as a specialty drama director. [1]
Zaitsev is best known for his contribution to opening theory. His variation of the Ruy Lopez opening (known as the Flohr–Zaitsev Variation, jointly named for Grandmaster Salo Flohr) follows one of the main lines of the Ruy Lopez and remains in wide use today.

Igor Zaytsev was born in the family of the artists in 1958 in Ukraine. In 1977 he received a Bachelor's Degree of Art from Lugansk College of Art, Ukraine. After that he continued his education in the National Academy of Art in Kiev where he received Master of Fine Arts in 1983.
