New York, N.Y. – September 26, 2023 – In the midst of an exciting year for American Documentary (AmDoc), the organization has announced Cecilia R. Mejia has been hired as Vice President of External Affairs.
Cecilia R. Mejia is a second-generation Filipino-American born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She has worked for over a decade in development for nonprofit organizations, including NGOs at the United Nations. She has a master’s degree in Public Administration and Affairs.
Cecilia has produced a number of short films focusing on critical social impact issues. She’s the lead producer of the upcoming Sony-acquired feature film YELLOW ROSE, a social impact producer of the award-winning doc CALL HER GANDA (TIFF 2018), and Co-Producer for LINGUA FRANCA (Tribeca All Access 2019).
Mar 7, 2022 · After an exhaustive interviewing process, the hiring committee decided upon Cecilia R. Mejia (whose film Yellow Rose was a CAAMFest 2019 Centerpiece). Apart from being an impact producer, she has also worked in non-profit management and continues to teach classes on Social Impact Producing at NYU.

Open Arts instructor Cecilia Mejia was recently hired by American Documentary (AmDoc) as the Vice President of External Affairs. In this role, she will lead strategy and implementation of AmDoc's development, marketing, and communication efforts.
