Tatsuo Yoshida (吉田 竜夫, Yoshida Tatsuo, March 6, 1932 – September 5, 1977) was a Japanese manga artist, illustrator, as well as anime pioneer who founded the animation studio Tatsunoko Production as a businessman and the original author of many anime works.
Tatsuo Yoshida a self-taught artist growing up in post-war Japan would become a legendary figure in the anime industry when he founded Tatsunoko Productions Company with his brother Kenji. His career was cut tragically short when he died of Liver Cancer on September 5, 1977.
Speed Racer, also known as Mach GoGoGo ( Japanese: マッハ GoGoGo ( ゴーゴーゴー), Hepburn: Mahha GōGōGō), is a Japanese manga about automobile racing created by Tatsuo Yoshida. It was originally serialized in print in Shueisha 's 1966 Shōnen Book.
The studio was founded in October 1962 by mangaka and anime pioneer Tatsuo Yoshida, and his two younger brothers, Kenji, who managed Tatsuo, and Toyoharu (better known by his pen name "Ippei Kuri"), a manga artist, at Tatsuo's own house.
Tatsuo Yoshida was born on 6 March 1933 in Kyoto, Japan. He was a writer and producer, known for Speed Racer (2008), Casshan (1973) and Tekkaman, the Space Knight (1975). He died on 5 September 1977 in Tokyo, Japan.
