Merlin Metalworks was founded in 1986 by Gwyn Jones, Gary Helfrich, and Mike Augspurger in Cambridge, Massachusetts. [2] They were one of the first to manufacture bicycle frames constructed solely from titanium.

Apr 22, 2013 · For the record Chris Chance will tell you this is not a Fat Chance, but rather Gary Helfrich's first Titanium mountain bike. It just so happens that Gary was working for Fat City at the time he built the bike and so it shares its basic geometry with the Team Comp.
