The Fall of the House of Usher is an opera composed by Peter Hammill with a libretto by Chris Judge Smith released in 1991 on Some Bizzare Records; in 1999, Hammill revised his work and released it as The Fall of the House of Usher (Deconstructed & Rebuilt).

After murdering his wife, a young man finds himself in a lunatic asylum. Once inside he’s at the mercy of Dr Calahari, whose alternative treatment gives rise to a series of weird and nightmarish hallucinations.
When Roderick Usher is found guilty for the brutal murder of his wife, he is immediately branded insane and sent to the county lunatic asylum. Once inside the padded cell, he finds himself at the mercy of Dr Calahari, whose mind-blowing shock treatment gives rise to a series of bizarre and nightmarish adventures.
