Robert Held - Robert Held Art Glass Studio. Robert was born in Santa Ana, California. His initial focus was in painting, and then in ceramics. While pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree, he was awarded the prestigious "Glen Lukins Award".
Robert Held was a ceramics artist before discovering glassblowing in the late 1960s. He started the glass program at Sheridan College, pioneering art glass in Canada. In 1978 he began his own glass studio, today known as Robert Held Art Glass & located in Parksville, BC.
Born in Santa Ana, California, Robert Held aspired to be an artist from an early age. His father, a sculptor, only lived six years of his son's life, but passed on the talent and appreciation of art that gave Robert the beginnings of a quest to create beauty in form and color.
