William Bartlett Peet ( né Peed; [1] January 29, 1915 – May 11, 2002) was an American children's book illustrator and a story writer and animator for Walt Disney Animation Studios . Peet joined Disney in 1937 and worked first on Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) near the end of its production.
Bill Peet, Walt Disney's greatest story man for 27 years, also wrote and illustrated 36 books for children. Praised by educators because they are fun to read and beautifully illustrated. Some are in verse and every book features a different character.

One was based on family pets and other animals in his life and was titled Lions, Chickens, Dogs, Frogs, Gnats, Cats and Kittens. Bill had also written a description of his story writing process, to answer the many questions from fans about how he made his books, which he titled Thinking Small.
Bill Peet was born on 29 January 1915 in Grandview, Indiana, USA. He was a writer, known for Cinderella (1950), Sleeping Beauty (1959) and Dumbo (1941). He was married to Margaret Brunst. He died on 11 May 2002 in Studio City, California, USA.
