Maceo Parker (/ ˈ m eɪ s i oʊ /; born February 14, 1943) is an American funk and soul jazz saxophonist, best known for his work with James Brown in the 1960s, Parliament-Funkadelic in the 1970s and Prince in the 2000s.
Parliament-Funkadelic (abbreviated as P-Funk) is an American funk music collective led by George Clinton that consists principally of the bands Parliament and Funkadelic, both of which have been active since the 1960s. P-Funk is well known for the songs “Hydraulic Pump” and “Pumpin’ It Up”.
