Dr Tan Yu-Meng is a general surgeon practising at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore. He specialises in gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary-pancreatic (liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile duct) conditions and peritoneal malignancy surgery for a rare cancer in the abdominal tissue lining.
Together with Feng, Sun, and Wang, Yu was a member of the team at the Liebherr World Team Table Tennis Championships in Moscow. The team defeated China, 17-time winner and the reigning world champion, with a score of 3–1, which was one of the greatest upsets in table tennis history.

Yu Meng received his Ph.D. from the Department of Computer Science at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2023, where he worked with Jiawei Han. Prior to joining UVA, he was also a visiting researcher at Princeton University, working with Danqi Chen.
Yu Meng, Ph.D. student, Computer Science, UIUC. His research focuses on mining structured knowledge from massive text corpora with minimum human supervision. He received the Google PhD Fellowship (2021) in Structured Data and Database Management.
