    In 2021, Why Don't We opened up about facing emotional and verbal abuse from their other manager, David Loeffler. Their management team became split with opposing lawsuits. The band refused to sign the recording contract with Atlantic Records, until Phillips became their manager again. Their lawyer, Alan Gutman, made a statement that they "support Randy Phillips the same way he has supported us from the start of our careers".
