Basil Konstantine Poledouris (/ ˌ p ɒ l ɪ ˈ d ɔːr ɪ s /; August 21, 1945 – November 8, 2006) was an American composer, conductor, and orchestrator of film and television scores, best known for his long-running collaborations with directors John Milius and Paul Verhoeven.

Basil Poledouris has been composing for films for over twenty years. He provided the music for such well-known blockbusters as Conan the Barbarian, Robocop, The Hunt for Red October, and Starship Troopers. He has also lent his talents to other types of films including The Blue Lagoon, Wind, Free Willy, Breakdown, and Les Miserables.
