- Marley and Me. Star-struck locals stayed busy trying to keep up with all the scenes that were shot around Miami for this 2008 hit about a couple, played by Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston, who moved to South Florida and were always chasing after their naughty dog Marley.
- Bad Boys Franchise. This action comedy film series loved Miami so much, they returned three times! Bad Boys (1995), Bad Boys II (2003), and Bad Boys for Life (2020) all star Will Smith and Martin Lawrence as narcotics detectives in the Miami Police Department.
- Miami Vice. It had to be done, right? The popular TV show that put Miami on the map was turned into a movie in 2006. The makers of the film starring Jamie Foxx and Colin Farrell took over South Florida, filming at the now-closed Mansion nightclub on Washington Avenue, which reigned as a nightlife haven in South Beach for years.

- Cocaine Cowboys (2006) Cocaine Cowboysis one of the best documentaries ever filmed in Miami. It captures a period with incredible verve, famously containing something like 5,000 edits in its kinetically paced narratives.
- Scarface. Sure, The Godfather: Part II might be a better movie than Scarface, but there's no debate as to which movie is most Miami; it’s Scarfaceby a mile.
- The Godfather: Part II. Sequels aren’t supposed to be as good as the original, but The Godfather: Part IImay be one of the rare movies whose sequel actually kicked the prequel's ass.
- Bad Boys. The original can’t be topped. The plot might be overdone, but the movie itself will always feel very Miami. Will Smith owned 1995, and Martin Lawrence was hotter than ever too, so the pair combined to attract a huge audience for this film.
