Martyn Sanderson ONZM (24 February 1938 – 14 October 2009) was a New Zealand actor, director, producer, writer and poet. Sanderson was described as one of the founding fathers of modern theatre in New Zealand.

Acclaimed actor Martyn Sanderson has died, aged 71. Sanderson was also a writer and director with a career that spanned more than 40 years.
The late Martyn Sanderson, ONZM, who passed away in October 2009, was a writer, poet, and co-founder of Wellington's Downstage theatre. He was probably best known for having one of the most distinctive voices in New Zealand acting, and his appearances in 26 movies.

He was involved with a new production, the African play Muntu, right up to his death. Born in Westport, Mr Sanderson was educated at Christ's College and Canterbury University.
