Ys Origin is a prequel to the previous nine installments of the Ys video game series. It takes place 700 years before the events of Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished , and tells much of the backstory of Ys, Darm Tower, the Black Pearl, the twin goddesses, and the six priests.
It started on the NEC PC-8801 in 1987, created by Masaya Hashimoto (director, programmer, designer) and Tomoyoshi Miyazaki (scenario writer). In terms of the number of game releases, Ys is second only to Final Fantasy as the largest eastern role-playing game franchise. Ys is particularly popular in Japan and Korea.
Ys Origin is a classic Japanese A-RPG set in the world of Ys, where you can play as a warrior or a mage to seek the missing Goddesses. The game features four modes, various environments, artifacts, and a soundtrack by Falcom.
