Feb 11, 2015 · SAN JOSE, California (AP) — An emotional Evgeni Nabokov announced his retirement Wednesday from the National Hockey League, just two days after the goaltender was traded by Tampa Bay to the San Jose Sharks, the team that drafted him out of Kazakhstan in 1994.
Evgeni Nabokov is a former NHL goaltender who played for San Jose Sharks, New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning. He also played in Russia and Kazakhstan, winning the Calder Memorial Trophy in 2001.
