Ethan of Athos is a 1986 science fiction novel by American author Lois McMaster Bujold. The title character is Dr. Ethan Urquhart, Chief of Biology at the Sevarin District Reproduction Centre on the planet Athos, who is sent to find out what happened to a shipment of vital ovarian tissue cultures.
Ethan of Athos, written by Lois McMaster Bujold and published in 1986 by Baen Books, is the third novel written in the Vorkosigan Saga. Chronologically it takes place after Cetaganda and before " Labyrinth ." It has also been collected in the omnibus edition Miles, Mystery and Mayhem.

Unlike the better VORKOSIGAN books, Ethan of Athos is somewhat predictable and has a naively incompetent protagonist, but it’s still a worthy read. Here we get to know Elli Quinn better and we learn how she feels about Miles Vorkosigan (the main protagonist of the series) and why she admires him so much.
