Even though the city did not have a clear foundation date or any official acknowledgement thereof, most commentators state that Rosario was founded on 7 October 1793 with a local population of 457 inhabitants. In 1731 the Church of Nuestra Señora del Rosario (“Our Lady of the Rosary”) was erected and became the early centre of the city. Unlike interior cities such as Córdoba, Rosario supported the May Revolution of 1810, and it was there in 1812 that Gen. Manuel Belgrano hoisted the first Argentine flag.

History. On October 22, 1845, Spanish Governor General Narciso Claveria promulgated a Decree for the establishment of a new town comprising Salinas-Leiton and Tierra Alta of San Francisco de Malabon, what is now the city of General Trias.

A parish appeared to have been established on the southwestern coast of Batangas, where a river (now called Rosario River) runs through Lobo and nearby is Rosario Point. This Christian settlement became the target of a Moro raid during the Moro wars against Spain. In 1687, this settlement was plundered by the Moro pirates.
