General Information. The Istanbul State Conservatory, which started its education in the academic year 1971-1972, became a part of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in 1982. In the academic year 1986-1987, the Conservatory moved to the Baltacılar Dairesi in Dolmabahçe Palace.

State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan University School of Fine Arts. Structural changes of this kind followed each other and the Conservatory was attached to the rectorate of the Mimar Sinan University (MSU) and took the name Mimar Sinan University State Conservatory in 1985-1986 academic year.
The Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University was founded in 1883, and the State Conservatory of Music (established in 1970) was incorporated into its structure in 1982. There are departments of music (performance, composition, conducting), musicology (including ethnomusicology, folklore), and performing arts (theatre, opera, ballet, modern dance).
