The Swedish Nightingale (German: Die schwedische Nachtigall) is a 1941 German musical film directed by Peter Paul Brauer and starring Ilse Werner (singing sequences with Erna Berger's voice), Karl Ludwig Diehl, and Joachim Gottschalk.
The Swedish opera singer Helga Görlin portrayed Lind in the 1937 Swedish historical drama film John Ericsson, Victor of Hampton Roads. In 1941 Ilse Werner starred as Lind in the German-language musical biography film The Swedish Nightingale.
With Ilse Werner, Karl Ludwig Diehl, Joachim Gottschalk, Aribert Wäscher. The movie tells the beautiful love story of the Swedish writer Hans Christian Andersen and the singer Jenny Lind. Andersen dedicated his fairy tale "The Nightingale of the Chinese Emperor" to Lind.
