Though it goes off on tangents in the second half, Umberto Lenzi's MANHUNT IN THE CITY is essentially an Italian DEATH WISH knockoff. In a bit of a departure, a short-fused Henry Silva is the hero, an everyman whose 8-year-old daughter is killed during a bank robbery.
During a jewel robbery, a construction surveyor's daughter is gunned down in cold blood as the criminals make their escape. Before dying, the little girl mentions having seen 'a scorpion'.
Co-written by genre-hopping Italian exploitation stalwart Dardano Sacchetti, Manhunt in the City argues the law is impotent, the press are vultures (although Silvano Tranquilli provides a sympathetic ear as David's journalist pal), liberal social reforms do not work, right-wing politicians only exploit our fears for their own ends and fighting ...
