Forbidden Quest (Korean: 음란서생; RR: Eumranseosaeng) is a 2006 South Korean period drama film about a scholar during the Joseon Dynasty who begins to write erotic novels, and becomes the lover of the King's favorite concubine.
Yoon-Seo ( Han Suk-Kyu) is a renown writer who comes from a wealthy family. One day, he comes across an infamous "erotic" story that inspires him to write in the same genre. Yoon-Seo takes up a pen name and writes his first erotic novel, which becomes a hit. Especially so with the housewives.

Forbidden Quest. Story: Kim Yoon-seo (Han Suk-kyu) is an inspector at the royal court during the Joseon-dynasty. Queen Jung-bin (Kim Min-jung) orders him to find a painting that apparently has been stolen and replaced by an exact copy.
Despite a muddled first few minutes, Forbidden Quest pretty quickly snaps into place as the story of a court inspector who decides that he wants to be Korea's most famous erotic novelist, after learning of the popularity of the genre. His path leads him to forbidden love and ultimately tragedy.
