Lise is a Parisian prostitute who has a young son, Sebastien. Lise dotes on her boy, who has a gift for music and sings in a children's choir directed by aging parish priest Father Andre.

Lise believes in miracles. She also thinks that the best way to have your prayers answered is to call on the services of a true professional. So, to save her son, she appeals to Father André. But André is an insufferable misanthrope who has lost faith in everything. He refuses to help her.
Occupied by a client, Lise, a parisienne call girl, is unable to accompany her son to a concert his choir is conducting. The boy leaves for the church alone, but is hit by a car on the way and falls into a coma.
