Nov 26, 1994 · Overview. Fictional account of what might have happened if Hitler had won the war. It is now the 1960s and Germany's war crimes have so far been kept a secret. Hitler wants to talk peace with the US president. An American journalist and a German homicide cop stumble into a plot to destroy all evidence of the genocide.
Based on the suspense novel, "Fatherland." Set in Berlin 20 years after a German victory in World War II, an SS detective (with the help of an American journalist) uncovers a deadly secret of the Third Reich.
However, when S.S. homicide detective Xavier March (Rutger Hauer) begins investigating the mysterious death of a retired Nazi Party official, a cover-up is revealed involving the Jewish Holocaust of World War II.
