Overview. A stranger comes to town looking for his estranged wife. He finds her running the local girls. He also finds a town and sheriff afraid of their own shadow, scared of a landowner they never see who rules through his rowdy sidekicks.
Based on the short story "The Deadly Peacemaker" by N. B. Stone, Jr. in The Saturday Evening Post (30 May 1955). A man in search of his wayward wife agrees to defend a Western town from a ruthless landowner.
