Synopsis. David Dickson is a wealthy plantation owner in antebellum Georgia who fathers Amanda by raping one of his slaves, Julia. Julia relinquishes Amanda to the Dicksons, realizing that her baby will be raised free because she was born with fair skin.
A House Divided follows the direct descendants of Letty Sanders, an enslaved woman who after arriving in Los Angeles, California in 1821 and became the wealthiest Black woman in the newly formed city.
