Chūshingura (忠臣蔵, The Treasury of Loyal Retainers) is the title given to fictionalized accounts in Japanese literature, theater, and film that relate to the historical incident involving the forty-seven rōnin and their mission to avenge the death of their master, Asano Naganori.
Chushingura: Directed by Hiroshi Inagaki. With Toshirô Mifune, Yûzô Kayama, Tatsuya Mihashi, Akira Takarada. After their lord is tricked into committing ritual suicide, forty-seven samurai warriors await the chance to avenge their master and reclaim their honor.

A young lord, due to efforts to thwart corruption in the Shogunate and not bribe officers, is tricked into drawing his weapon at a meeting with the envoys. The punishment for the act is death and the young lord commits ritual suicide, leaving his 47 samurai warriors without a master: now ronins.
