Fergus returns to Liverpool for the funeral of his friend Frankie, a fellow private security contractor who has been killed in Baghdad. Suspicious of the official account of his death, Fergus starts to investigate, fuelled by the discovery of a shocking recording Frankie made days before he died.
When Frankie is killed on Route Irish (the road linking Baghdad airport with the Green Zone), Fergus, wracked with grief and guilt, rejects the official explanation and determines to investigate the truth of his friend’s death.
