Granny Jantzen lives with her three granddaughters Dick, Dalli and Angela on the small pony farm Immenhof in Northern Germany. Since the breeding of ponies isn′t profitable anymore, Granny Jantzen is struggling to keep the family property.
In all fairness, the 'Immenhof' trilogy is nothing but a bit of fluff, held together by the youthful exuberance of Heidi Brühl and Angelika Meissner. On the other hand, they are handsomely mounted horse operas, German style.
The girls from Immenhof is the first in a trilogy of films about the Immenhof and its residents that came to the cinema in the 1950s. Directed by Wolfgang Schleif, Angelika Meissner-Voelkner can be seen as Dick, Heidi Brühl as Dalli and Christiane König as Angela, granddaughters of grandma Jantzen played by Margarete Haagen.
Angela, Barbara and Brigitte have settled with their grandmother Jantzen. The Jantzens have owned the 18th century manor house “Immenhof” for over 100 years, breeding and selling ponies. Grandmother Jantzen is struggling with finances.
