Jack Hanaway is an cocktail pianist and aspiring author of crime novels who has a mean-streak. One evening, a snide comment nearly costs him his job at the Blue Cat Lounge, a Long Island watering hole. Only the interference of Fred Moore, the owner, saves his job.
Leary and Sanchez-Gijon play "romantically involved down-and-out lounge singers" who get involved in a caper. A down-on-his-luck piano player (Denis Leary) at the Blue Cat Lounge is offered a chance to make some big money by a private detective friend (Michael Badalucco).
