2/Duo excels at being a recreation of the private home environment where toxic and abusive relationships survive and fester without intrusion. Occasionally outsiders catch a glimpse of dysfunction and disease when one or the other parts of the duo enters the world depleted and lost.

In preparing for this film, Nobuhiro Suwa wrote a detailed script and then threw it away at the last moment. Instead, in a manner reminiscent of Mike Leigh and John Cassavetes, he worked intensively with the actors to develop their characters and allowed the script to develop from there.
A really wonderful and visceral pseudo-documentary with a distinctly Japanese twist. The film follows a boyfriend/girlfriend duo through a tumultuous period in their lives: the boy is an underachieving actor who wants to sleep all day, the girl is a depressed shop assistant.
2/Duo. An out-of-work actor and a depressed boutique employee have a difficult time communicating with each other.
