Evil Dead II (also known as Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn) is a 1987 horror-comedy directed by Sam Raimi and is a sequel to the 1981 horror film The Evil Dead. The film was written by Raimi and Scott Spiegel, produced by Robert Tapert and stars Bruce Campbell as Ash Williams.
Having survived the horrors of the mystical Necronomicon by the skin of his teeth in The Evil Dead (1981), a half-mad Ash struggles to ward off the all-powerful demonic influence of the cursed forest.
Ash Williams and his girlfriend Linda find a log cabin in the woods with a voice recording from an archeologist who had recorded himself reciting ancient chants from "The Book of the Dead." As they play the recording an evil power is unleashed taking over Linda's body.
