The documentary follows the life of Rubén Blades, a Panamanian musician, singer, composer, actor, activist, and politician, and his contributions to the New York "Salsa revolution", a Latin American music movement which has been estimated to have lasted between 1968 and 1985.
RUBEN BLADES IS NOT MY NAME is a portrait of one of Latin America’s most important singer/ songwriters. For more than half a decade, his songs have seeped into the collective consciousness, and soul, of Latin America. This film explores Ruben’s story, his legacy, and how he deals with being the man and legend he is.
