Nov 23, 2017 · The murder of glamorous artist’s model Stella Smith is the starting point for The Night Won’t Talk, a fairly typical example of the 1950s British crime B-movie (in this case dating from 1952).
When a beautiful young artist's model is strangled in her bed, Scotland Yard find themselves with three suspects -- her sinister ex-husband (Elwyn Brook-Jones), a sexually disturbed artist (Ballard Berkeley) and her violent new boyfriend (John Bailey), who is prone to unexplained blackouts.To catch the killer, the police must set a dangerous trap with the aid of a famous sculptress (Hy Hazell).
The ladies, sculptor Hy Hazell, Mary Germaine, and Sarah Lawson, are sympathetic to him. Fat Martin, who works at a club where the artists and models congregate, is a creepy possibility. And so on. It's put together very well, both as a mystery and a story about the neurotics in the art world.
Synopsis by Hal Erickson. The Night Won't Talk is a short but not too sweet British second feature. A beautiful model is murdered; John Bailey, the girl's fiance, is the principal suspect. Later on, suspicion shifts to Bailey's current girl friend.
