  1. Andy Metcalfe (born 3 March 1956, Bristol, England) is an English bassist, keyboardist, and producer, who played mainly with The Soft Boys (with Robyn Hitchcock, 1976–1979), Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians (1984–1994), and with Squeeze off and on during the period 1985–1994.

  2. Biography. Andy was born in Bristol in 1956, was a chorister at Bristol Cathedral and played the piano. He studied music at Sussex University, where he began to move away from classical music into pop, bluegrass and jazz.

  7. Mar 21, 2004 · Hi - I joined this forum after seeing this particular post about Andy Metcalfe. He's one of my bass heroes and someone I've had the good fortune to work with many times. I was as surprised as many other Andy/Robyn fans then to discover that didn't start playing fretless until the Queen Elvis album, so 1989-ish.
